The classic DC vs. Marvel cosmic villain matchup. Thanos was literally inspired by Darkseid's design, but the two have diverged significantly in power and characterization.

Darkseid's primary advantage is the Omega Beams — energy blasts that literally cannot miss. They track through dimensions, through time, and around obstacles until they hit their target. They can disintegrate, teleport, or resurrect anything they touch. This alone is a near-unbeatable weapon.

Thanos without the Infinity Gauntlet is immensely powerful but operates at a lower cosmic tier than True Form Darkseid. Thanos has been physically overpowered by beings in his own universe (Odin, Galactus), while Darkseid is a fundamental force of the DC multiverse — a New God whose true form exists outside normal reality.

With the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos would win — it rewrites reality across the Marvel Universe. But the Gauntlet only works within Marvel's reality, so in a cross-publisher fight, it's questionable whether it would function.
