Saitama's parody-level power defies Vegeta's impressive but quantifiable Saiyan strength.
Vegeta is one of the most powerful fighters in the Dragon Ball universe. In his Ultra Ego form, he grows stronger the more damage he takes, has destroyed planets with casual ki blasts, and has fought toe-to-toe with gods of destruction. His pride and Saiyan warrior instincts make him one of the most relentless combatants in all of anime. Ultra Ego Vegeta is a universe-level threat with concrete, measurable feats.
Saitama, however, exists outside conventional power scaling. His sneeze destroyed Jupiter's atmosphere. His serious punch countered a galaxy-level energy attack from Cosmic Garou by simply punching harder. In the manga, Saitama's power was shown growing exponentially during his fight with Garou โ a graph that literally went off the chart. His whole narrative purpose is to be unbeatable.
Vegeta's Ultra Ego is fascinating because it mirrors Saitama's problem in reverse โ Vegeta wants to take damage to get stronger, while Saitama wants to find someone who can actually challenge him. In theory, this could create an interesting feedback loop where both fighters escalate infinitely. But Saitama's escalation has been shown to outpace any opponent's growth rate.
The cruel irony is that Vegeta would take this fight more seriously than almost anyone, and his pride would refuse to let him quit. But Saitama's power exists to mock exactly that kind of escalation.
Ultra Ego Vegeta grows stronger with every hit he takes, has destruction god-level ki, and has fought multiverse-threatening opponents. His Saiyan pride means he will never surrender, and his combat IQ is among the highest in Dragon Ball. If any Dragon Ball character could find a way to match Saitama's escalation, Vegeta's damage-absorption ability makes him the best candidate.
Saitama's power is narratively infinite โ he has never shown his full strength and his growth rate outpaces any opponent. He casually time-traveled via punching, sneezed away a planet's atmosphere, and his serious punch series has no demonstrated upper limit. Saitama is a parody of power scaling itself, making him functionally unbeatable by characters who exist within conventional power systems.
Saitama takes this by the thinnest of margins, for the same reason he edges out Goku โ his power is designed to be unquantifiable and infinite. Vegeta's Ultra Ego makes this more interesting than most matchups against Saitama, but the One Punch Man's narrative armor is simply too thick. Vegeta would put on the fight of his life, though.
