Silverback Gorilla

The gorilla is far more intelligent and could potentially use environmental objects as weapons. Its grip strength is enormous and it has dexterous hands. In theory, a gorilla could climb onto the hippo's back to avoid the jaws — but this is grasping at straws against a 4,000-pound animal.

Hippopotamus

The hippo is 8-10 times heavier with the most powerful jaws of any land animal. Its hide is natural armor. It's the most aggressive large animal in Africa. The gorilla simply has no weapons that can threaten something this size.
