Hercules is the strongest demigod in Greek mythology — son of Zeus, he completed the impossible Twelve Labors, held up the sky for Atlas, and eventually achieved full godhood on Olympus. His physical strength is the benchmark for all strongmen in Western culture. He wrestled Death itself to save Alcestis and killed the Nemean Lion whose hide was impervious to weapons.

Wonder Woman is also a child of Zeus in most DC continuities, making this effectively a family dispute. But Diana operates at DC Comics power levels, which significantly exceed classical mythology. She has matched Superman in combat, deflected Omega Beams, fought Darkseid's elite warriors, and wields weapons that can cut atoms. Her combat training on Themyscira spans millennia of Amazon warrior tradition.

The key difference is the power system each character operates in. Mythological Hercules' greatest feat — holding up the sky — is impressive but DC's power tier treats planetary feats as baseline for top-tier characters. Wonder Woman routinely deals with threats that dwarf anything in classical Greek mythology. Her atom-cutting sword and unbreakable lasso are more potent weapons than anything Hercules wielded.

Hercules' Nemean Lion hide provides invulnerability to conventional weapons, similar to his DC portrayal. But Wonder Woman's divine weapons are explicitly magical and designed to harm gods. The Lasso of Truth's compulsive truth-telling could disrupt Hercules' fighting focus, and her sword's atomic-cutting edge likely bypasses the Lion hide's protection.
